Michigan’s Tyler Motte named NCAA second star of the week, B1G first star

He had quite the weekend against Ohio State, and the NCAA took notice.

Michigan forward Tyler Motte has been named the nation’s second star of the week, after racking up four goals and three assists in the Wolverines’ weekend set with Ohio State.

Motte, a NTDP alum and St. Clair native, recorded one goal and one assist in a 5-5 tie on Friday, then posted a hat trick and two assists in a thrilling 8-6 comeback victory at Yost Ice Arena Sunday night (check out our photo gallery from the game here).

Motte is currently on a five-game goal and point streak, having accumulated seven goals and five assists in the timeframe. He is tied for the Wolverines’ team lead in goals with 18, and ranks third on the UM roster with 28 points.

UPDATE: Motte has also been named the Big Ten’s first star of the week.
