The NCAA has announced their top performers from the most recent week of college hockey action, and an Algonac native tops the charts.

Tommy Marchin, a freshman forward at Brown, had quite a weekend across the pond in Belfast, Ireland.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks alum recorded a hat trick in Brown’s 5-0 semifinal victory against Colgate in the Friendship Four tournament overseas, and followed that up with a one goal and two assists in the title game against UMass-Lowell.

Despite his team losing in a shootout during that championship contest (the two clubs played to a 5-5 tie), Marchin was named Most Outstanding Player at the tournament.

Marchin is second on his team in scoring with six goals and six assists for 12 points in his freshman season.

During his USHL career, Marchin spent the 2013-14 season with the Lincoln Stars, recording six goals and 12 assists in 52 games. In 2014-15, he helped the Lumberjacks reach the Clark Cup Final, recording 23 goals and 23 assists for 46 points in the regular season, and eight more in the playoffs.
