The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named its November 2015 monthly honors today, and their most prestigious honor went to a Husky.

Tyler Heinonen was named the conference’s player of the month today, after he helped Michigan Tech to a 6-1-1 record during November. A junior forward from Delano, Minn., Heinonen led the WCHA in goals (six), points (ten) and power-play goals (three) during the stretch.

Heinonen matched North Dakota’s Drake Gaggiula and Harvard’s Jimmy Vesey for most game-winning goals in NCAA hockey for the month, as all three players recorded three apiece.

Meanwhile, the WCHA announced that Ferris State freshman forward Corey Mackin was named the conference’s rookie of the month.

Mackin, a Philadelphia native, recorded a WCHA-freshmen high seven points (three goals, four assists) in eight games. He helped the Bulldogs post a win or tie in five of their eight outings during the month.
