There are no Michigan natives on the U.S. Junior Select Team roster this go-round, but there are still some names to keep an eye on for an upcoming tournament.

When Team USA begins competition in the World Junior A Challenge in Ontario, these Michigan connections will be competing against some top talent:

  • Mitch Reinke – Defenseman – Stillwater, Minn. – Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL) – Michigan Tech commit
  • Colin Peters – Forward – Sheboygan, Wisc. – Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL) – Northern Michigan commit
  • Chase Pearson – Forward – Alpharetta, Ga. – Youngstown Phantoms (USHL) – University of Maine commit – Red Wings draftee (2015, fifth round)
  • Rem Pitlick – Forward – Plymouth, Minn. – Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) – University of Minnesota commit

The roster, comprised of USHL players on an annual basis, is not yet finalized, and we’re hearing that a Michigan native may still be added. Either way, there are future Michigan residents and one current resident to get to know during the tournament, which starts with an exhibition game against Canada East at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 11.
