Saginaw native Devin Williams named OHL player of the week

Another week, another Michigan native named OHL player of the week.

This time, it’s Devin Williams.

The Saginaw native and netminder for the Erie Otters is this week’s ‘Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week’ for the stretch of games ending on Nov. 15, after he posted a 4-0-0-0 record, a goals-against average of 1.74 and a save percentage of .938.

Williams made 91 saves in the four games, leading the Otters to four straight victories. With the surge in wins, the OHL club has moved into a first-place tie in the Midwest Division standings. The Otters are now 17-2-1-0 on the season.

The 20-year-old netminder is in the midst of his fifth OHL season with the Otters, and he currently holds a 14-0-1-0 record – good for the top spot in the wins column among all OHL tenders. His goals-against average of 2.31 is also the league’s best.

Williams is a Belle Tire, Motor City Metal Jackets and Metro Jets alum.

Michigan natives have now claimed three of the eight weekly awards from the OHL, with Tyler Parsons (London Knights, Chesterfield native) claiming the top spot from Oct. 26 – Nov. 1 and Alex DeBrincat (Erie Otters, Farmington Hills native) on Sept. 28 – Oct. 4.
