Red Wings sign Xavier Ouellet to one-year extension

The Detroit Red Wings have announced that the team has signed Xavier Ouellet to a one-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old defenseman is in his third professional season. He has appeared in 11 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, recording one goal, tw0 assists and six penalty minutes with the club.

Ouellet has skated in 25 career games with the Red Wings, and he played in one playoff game during the 2014 first-round series with Boston. Twenty-one of those games came during the 2014-15 campaign, where Ouellet recorded one goal, three assists, two penalty minutes and a plus-four rating.
