The Detroit Red Wings announced a pair of roster moves today, one that sends a player back to Grand Rapids and one that places a player on long-term injured reserve.

Andreas Athanasiou has been returned to the Griffins, while Johan Franzen has returned to the long-term IR list.

Athanasiou appeared in six NHL games during his call-up to Detroit, and scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 10 against Washington. The 21-year-old forward recorded 11 shots on goal, four hits, two blocked shots and one takeaway, while averaging 8:53 worth of ice time.

Franzen, meanwhile, appeared in two games on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 to kick off the season with the Wings, recording a lone assist. The 35-year-old forward has been battling concussion-like symptoms the past few seasons.
