The Big Ten has announced their weekly stars, and the top two are former Lumberjacks.

Muskegon (USHL) products Eric Schierhorn and Michael Brodzinski – now teammates with the Minnesota Gophers – were named the first and second stars of the week, respectively, by the B1G league office today.

Schierhorn, a freshman from Anchorage, Alaska, posted a .941 save percentage, a 1.50 goals-against average and two victories in Minnesota’s weekend sweep of Northeastern.

The freshman netminder stopped all 23 shots he faced in Friday’s 4-0 win, then stopped 25 in a 4-3 win the next night.

Meanwhile, Brodzinski, a junior defenseman from Ham Lake, Minn., recorded four points (one goal and three assists) on the weekend. He picked up assists on both of the game-winning goals on the weekend.
