Red Wings announce ‘What’s new at The Joe’ list

As the Red Wings begin their 2015-16 NHL season tonight, the Original Six club has released a ‘What’s new at The Joe’ list of items, so fans can be ready for new policy changes and new things to check out at home games.

The club wants to remind fans of their new clear bag policy, which you can read more about here. Other notable changes for 2015-16 include new wireless ticket options, their ‘Hall of Fame’ nights to celebrate Nicklas Lidstrom and Sergei Fedorov, new food options and more.

CLEAR BAG POLICY

The Red Wings announced a new clear bag policy for all Red Wings games held at Joe Louis Arena to provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite entry for fans. Starting this season, fans that have non-compliant bags will be asked to return their bags to their cars.

Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bag, package or container into Joe Louis Arena for all Red Wings games. Guests with a non-compliant bag will be asked to return their bag to their vehicle before entering The Joe.

Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.”

One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar style).

Small clutch bags not exceeding 9” x 6” – approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap – can be taken into The Joe with one of the clear plastic bag options above.

MOBILE TICKETING

Season ticket holders and single-game buyers now have the ability to access and transfer tickets wirelessly anywhere, anytime on their mobile devices through the Red Wings new mobile ticketing program. Run through the Red Wings AccountManager, mobile ticketing will give fans the option to access tickets on their smartphones and present to Joe Louis Arena attendants to scan for fast, easy entrance into The Joe on Red Wings game nights. With the mobile ticketing program, Red Wings fans will no longer have to print their tickets, wait at will-call or risk losing their paper tickets before arriving to Joe Louis Arena. In addition, Red Wings ticket holders can easily manage their tickets and utilize complimentary forwarding and ticket transfers to friends, family or clients via their mobile devices. HOCKEY HALL OF FAME NIGHTS

Highlighting an exciting list of theme nights and giveaways this season are a pair of Hockey Hall of Fame Nights to honor Sergei Fedorov (Nov. 10 vs. Washington) and Nicklas Lidstrom (Feb. 23 vs. Columbus). Both players will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame this season. All fans in attendance at each game will receive a collectible print of the Red Wings Hall of Famers.

EXPERIENCE THE UPGRADE

Fans can upgrade their Red Wings tickets and experience Wings games like never before with “Experience the Upgrade,” available through the Official Red Wings Mobile App on their smartphones. Through the Mobile App, fans can purchase ticket upgrades and other one-of-a-kind Red Wings experiences while attending the game at The Joe. WI-FI AT THE JOE

For the first full season, Red Wings fans will be able to utilize the free high-speed public Wi-Fi when attending a Red Wings game at Joe Louis Arena to improve reliability when sending and receiving phone calls and text messages, provide faster uploads to social media and enhance fan engagement. To access Wi-Fi inside The Joe with your mobile device, connect to #JLAwifi.

BUD LIGHT GOOD SPORT PROGRAM

The Detroit Red Wings encourage fans to participate in Bud Light’s Good Sport Program and pledge to be a Good Sport/Designated Driver. Guests who are 21 years of age or older can register to pledge not to drink alcohol at Red Wings games and to provide responsible transportation for all members of their party. Fans can sign up at the Joe Louis Arena Guest Services Center on the concourse outside Section 104. Guests who participate in the Good Sport Program will receive a wristband that identifies him or her as a designated driver and a coupon for a free 16 oz. Coke product.

‘RED HOT WINGS’ CONSESSION STAND

The Detroit Red Wings are pleased to introduce our new Joe Louis Arena concession stand, Red Hot Wings, located on the concourse outside Section 127. Red Hot Wings includes several menu choices including buffalo-style wings, boneless wings, chicken tenders and french fries.

POINT OF SALE SYSTEM

Every concession stand, beer stand and bar at Joe Louis Arena can now accept all major credit cards with our new Point of Sale System. The system will expedite the wait time on the Joe Louis Arena Concourse, allowing fans to get back to their seat as soon as possible.

NEW LIGHTING ON THE SCOREBOARD

The scoreboard hanging high above center ice at Joe Louis Arena also received an update this off-season. The lighting displaying the teams, score, time and penalties was upgraded from bulbs to energy efficient LED lighting to improve the clarity and brightness of the scoreboard.

The Red Wings open up the 2015-16 season with an Original Six matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday, Oct. 9 at Joe Louis Arena.
