The Detroit Red Wings announced today that one of their top defensemen may be out of the line-up for the start of the 2015-16 season.

Per a team release, Danny DeKeyser suffered a lower left leg injury during the third period of last night’s game in Pittsburgh.

The Wings’ announcement says that DeKeyser was examined by doctors after the game, and he returned to Detroit with the team this morning. He went through more tests this afternoon to help determine the severity of the injury.

A time table for his return “is currently unknown as the team awaits the results of today’s examination.”
