Now through Nov. 28, hockey fans across Michigan can stop by Artworks in Big Rapids to celebrate hockey in the “12th best hockey city in the U.S.”

The home of the Ferris State Bulldogs was named the 12th best hockey city in a feature by WalletHub – ranked behind only Detroit in the State of Michigan for the poll. The metrics used for the ranking included ticket prices, stadium accessibility, team performance level and fan engagement.

To celebrate, Artworks – a local non-profit organization that initiates and supports humanities and arts activities in the area – has curated a “Drop the Puck” exhibition with memorabilia and photos from both Ferris State hockey and Big Rapids amateur hockey.

The exhibit can be viewed from Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with some select Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the “Drop the Puck Family Event” will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with children having the opportunity to paint pucks and hockey sticks, create a community collage and score goals on the puck slide.

On Oct. 4 from 11 a.m to 2 p.m., Ferris State hockey will have a reception at the exhibit, to celebrate the Bulldogs’ 41st season. Players and coaches will be in attendance from 11 a.m. to noon.

Area restaurants are getting in on the action, as well – fans can have a “Blashill Burger” at Crankers, while Kilwans/The Old Pioneer Store will feature a culinary creation in honor of FSU alum Zach Redmond from Sept. 2 to Nov. 28.
