Led by impressive performances by some Michigan natives, Team USA finished in first place at the 2015 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Switzerland earlier today.

With a 8-1 victory over Germany Sunday, the U.S. squad finished off a 3-1-0-0 (one overtime victory) record in the international competition. They also played Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia over a six-day span.

Michigan was represented by Sasha Chmelevski (Northville), Ivan Lodnia (Novi), Wyatt Bongiovanni (Birmingham) and Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield).

“Every player in the locker room contributed in the tournament,” said Pat Boller (Queens, N.Y.), head coach of the U.S. Under-17 Select Team, via a release. “We are so proud of how the kids played. They faced some adversity early and stuck with it. This win will be a memory we’ll share forever.”

Chmelevski led Team USA with 10 points in the four games, while Lodnia was one point behind with nine total. Bongiovanni recorded three points, while Miller added one assist.
