The goose is no longer loose.

Today, the Detroit Red Wings announced that they have agreed to a four-year deal with forward Gustav Nyquist.

“We’re very happy to have Gustav locked up for four more years,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Holland in a release from the team. “He’s quickly become an important part of our team, and is a critical piece to the Red Wings’ future. He is just now entering the prime of his career.”

The Red Wings don’t reveal contract information, but Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada is reporting that it’s for $19 million over the four years ($4.75 million per season).

Nyquist has been the Red Wings’ top goal-scorer for the last two seasons, recording a combined 55 goals since the start of the 2013-14 season.

A former fourth-round pick of the Wings, Nyquist spent three seasons with the University of Maine, and was a two-time nominee for the Hobey Baker Award. The native of Halmstad, Sweden, debuted with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2010-11, and played 18 games with the Wings in 2011-12. The 2013-14 season marked his first full season with Detroit.

In 179 career NHL games, he has 59 goals and 56 assists for 115 total points.
