Griffins announce additions of Bruce Ramsay and Ben Simon to coaching staff; Mike Knuble returns

The Grand Rapids Griffins announced today that they have made two hires to join Todd Nelson’s coaching staff.

The Red Wings’ AHL affiliate has added Bruce Ramsay and Ben Simon as assistant coaches. Meanwhile, the Griffins announced that assistant coach Mike Knuble (Grand Rapids), goaltending coach Jeff Salajko and video coach Bill LeRoy are all returning for their respective roles.Ramsay, 46, most recently worked as the head coach of the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL and Central Hockey League for the last six seasons, holding a 185-180-35 record. He worked as an assistant coach for Nelson with the UHL’s Muskegon Fury from 2004-06. Simon, 37, was working as an assistant coach of the Toronto Marlies in 2014-15. He started coaching in 2010-11 with the EIHL’s Sheffield Steelers. Both played for the Griffins at one point in their hockey career, as well.
