Plymouth native Nick Boka heard his name called by Minnesota today, and the Wild are getting one tough defenseman.

Minnesota claimed the Michigan product in the sixth round (171st overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.

“It’s very nerve wracking, but I’m glad to be part of this organization,” Boka said via the Wild’s Twitter account. “It’s a great place to be.”

Boka, a product of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, racked up 230 penalty minutes over his two USHL seasons with the NTDP.

The Wolverines commit moved from No. 176 in the NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings to No. 117 in their final projections.

He is a Compuware product and longtime teammate of fellow draftee Brendan Warren.
