The Kings took a trip to Houghton, Mich., to make their final selection of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Los Angeles claimed Michigan Tech defenseman Matt Roy in the seventh round today with their 194th pick.

Roy, a Canton native, was a freshman with the Huskies’ hockey program last fall, and he recorded nine points in 36 games. Perhaps more importantly, however, was the fact that he finished with a +21 rating in his rookie season with MTU.

Prior to joining the Huskies’ program, Roy won the Calder Cup with the Indiana Ice of the USHL. He is a product of the Victory Honda youth organization.
