Eric Schierhorn had quite a 2014-15 season in Muskegon, and the United States Hockey League is recognizing him for his accomplishments.

The Lumberjacks’ netminder has been named the league’s goaltender of the year, it was announced today.

Schierhorn was selected as the USHL’s top goaltender by a vote of league coaches and general managers after he posted a 26-13-4 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and .927 save percentage – the best percentage in the league since 2010-11 (Ryan McKay, Green Bay Gamblers).

It’s the second prestigious honor in as many weeks for the native of Anchorage, Alaska, after Schierhorn was named the Dave Peterson Goalie of the Year by USA Hockey.

Schierhorn played a crucial role in the Lumberjacks winning their first-ever USHL conference title, leading them through a series of franchise firsts en route to the Clark Cup Final.
