The American Hockey League announced their first and second all-star teams today, and two members of the Grand Rapids Griffins have cracked the first-team list.

Andy Miele (Grosse Pointe Woods) and Teemu Pulkkinen were both recognized for outstanding seasons today by the AHL, as they make up two-thirds of the AHL All-Star First Team forward grouping.

Miele, a Miami University alum and former Hobey Baker winner, racked up 24 goals and 43 assists for 67 points and a +12 rating this season, despite starting the season with an injury.

Meanwhile, his teammate, Pulkkinen, scored 34 goals and 27 assists for 61 points in only 46 AHL games played. Pulkkinen is the first player in Grand Rapids franchise history to record back-to-back 30-goal seasons.

It’s the first time since the Griffins’ inaugural season that two members of the Grand Rapids roster have been named to the first all-star team together. John Gruden and goaltender Martin Prusek earned that honor in 2001-02.
