With the college hockey season coming to a close for select teams, it’s time to watch for a new group of players to sign with professional teams. Here are the Michigan names who will be making the jump from the NCAA to the pros next season:

Andrew Copp
Michigan Wolverines → Winnipeg Jets

The Jets announced on Thursday morning that they have signed University of Michigan captain and Ann Arbor native Andrew Copp to a three-year, two-way, entry level contract. Copp was their fourth-round pick in 2013.

 

Tanner Kero
Michigan Tech Huskies → Chicago Blackhawks

The reigning WCHA player of the year has a new home. Hancock native and Michigan Tech leader Tanner Kero has signed a two-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks, and he will be reporting to their AHL affiliate in Rockford, Ill., for the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

Black Hietila
Michigan Tech Huskies → Colorado Eagles (ECHL)

Blake Hietala, a Houghton native, has signed with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL after concluding his NCAA career.

Austin Czarnik
Miami RedHawks → Boston Bruins

Austin Czarnik, one of the most touted college free agents on the market, has selected the Boston Bruins. Czarnik, a Washington, Mich., native and NTDP alum, made his pick on March 31. He racked up 45 points in 40 games in his senior season with Miami.

Riley Barber
Miami RedHawks → Washington Capitals

Riley Barber, a Compuware and NTDP alum, has signed with the Washington Capitals, the team that drafted him in 2012. He will forgo his final season with the RedHawks.

Matt Berry
Michigan State Spartans → Norfolk Admirals (AHL)

The Norfolk Admirals – AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks – have signed Canton native Matt Berry to a professional tryout. Berry recorded 96 points in 130 games for the Spartans during his four years at MSU.

Brent Darnell
Michigan State Spartans → Bakersfield Condors (ECHL)

Darnell, a Canton native and Detroit Catholic Central alum, has joined the ECHL team in Bakersfield, Calif., per the team’s Twitter account.

Tanner Sorenson
Michigan State Spartans → Alaska Aces (ECHL)

After concluding his time with the Michigan State Spartans, Tanner Sorenson has returned home – the Alaska native has joined the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

CJ Motte
Ferris State Bulldogs → Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL)

Per Ferris State broadcaster Dominic Hennig (and now confirmed by Ferris State’s official outlets), Motte is heading to the New York Islanders’ primary affiliate in the AHL. Motte, a St. Clair native, was one of the best goaltenders in college hockey during his time with the Bulldogs.

Cody Wydo
Robert Morris Colonials → Wheeling Nailers (ECHL)

A native of Southgate, Wydo – the Colonials’ all-time leading scorer and first-ever Hobey Baker finalist in program history – has signed with the nearby Wheeling Nailers program of the ECHL.

Kenney Morrison
Western Michigan Broncos → Calgary Flames

The Broncos’ junior defenseman from Lloydminster, Alberta, will forego his senior year at Western Michigan after signing a contract with the Calgary Flames.

Colton Hargrove
Western Michigan Broncos → Boston Bruins

The WMU junior forward from Rockwall, Texas, is joining the Boston Bruins’ organization after three years with the Broncos.

Justin Kovacs
Western Michigan Broncos → Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL)

The Grosse Pointe Woods native signed with the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings after a four-year career with the Broncos. Kovacs, a forward, played for Grosse Pointe North’s high school team prior to his junior and collegiate career.

Will Kessel
Western Michigan Broncos → Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL)

The 23-year-old forward and Bloomfield Hills native joins his former Broncos teammate Kovacs in Kalamazoo after a four-year stint with WMU.

Stephen Perfetto
Lake Superior State Lakers → Tulsa Oilers (ECHL)

Perfetto, a senior from Woodbridge, Ont., already has two assists in two games for the Oilers.

Red Seckel
Northern Michigan Wildcats → Toledo Walleye (ECHL)

Seckel, a Melvin, Mich., native, joins the Walleye after four years with NMU.

Jake Baker
Northern Michigan Wildcats → Quad City Mallards (ECHL)

Baker, a senior defenseman from Port Moody, B.C., will get a chance to continue his career with Quad City.

Kevin Albers
Niagara Purple Eagles → Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL)

After completing his NCAA career, Albers, a Lake Orion alum, is moving on to the ECHL.

Ryan Misiak
Mercyhurst Lakers → Reading Royals (ECHL)

Misiak, a Shelby Township native and Muskegon Lumberjacks alum, has signed with the ECHL club in Reading after four years with Mercyhurst.

Jason Binkley
Ferris State Bulldogs → South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL)

Binkley, a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs, will now move on to the ECHL, as he has signed with the South Carolina Stingrays.

Justin Buzzeo
Ferris State Bulldogs → Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL)

The Windsor native is continuing his hockey career at the next level, as Buzzeo will conclude his Ferris State career and head to Gwinnett in the ECHL.

Ron Boyd
Michigan State Spartans → South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL)

Boyd, a player who transferred to MSU a few seasons ago, will now continue into his pro career with the South Carolina Stingrays.
