The Grand Rapids Griffins made two roster moves today, one to the delight of Michigan’s hockey audience, and one not so much.

The AHL club announced that they have signed Jackson native Jared Nightingale to a professional tryout, while releasing Bloomfield native Pat Nagle from his own.

Nightingale, a 10-year American Hockey League veteran, holds 51 career points and 888 career penalty minutes in 413 AHL games between the Springfield Falcons, Iowa Stars, Hartford Wolf Pack, Chicago Wolves, Connecticut Whale, Syracuse Crunch, Rockford IceHogs and Norfolk Admirals.

The Michigan State alum most recently spent 13 games with the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, tallying three points and 17 penalty minutes.

Nagle, who signed with the Griffins on Jan. 12, earned both his first start and his first win for the Griffins on Jan. 23 against the Utica Comets, stopping 29 of 30 shots. It marked his first AHL win. During his three appearances this season, the Ferris State alum is 1-1-0 with a 1.76 goals-against average and .948 save percentage.
