The American Hockey League announced their player of the week today, and they’re recognizing a Griffins goaltender for his outstanding performances.

Jared Coreau was named the league’s CCM/AHL Player of the Week after stopping all 66 shots he faced in two road starts for the Griffins last week.

The Northern Michigan alum, who signed with the Red Wings in 2013 as an undrafted free agent, became the first Grand Rapids goaltender in six years to earn shutouts in consecutive games.

After the AHL All-Star break, Coreau made 38 saves in the Griffins’ 6-0 win at Iowa, and he followed that one up with a 28-save shutout in a 3-0 win over Milwaukee.

His shutout streak of 140:32 is less than 14 minutes shy of the Griffins’ franchise mark.

The Perth, Ont., native has a 9-6-1 record with the Griffins this year, with a 2.07 goals-against average and .930 save percentage.
