Looks like a few Michigan natives have bought an OHL team.

According to tweets from the Sarnia Observer’s Terry Bridge, Derian Hatcher (Sterling Heights) and David Legwand (Grosse Pointe Woods) have purchased the Sarnia Sting.

Hatcher, 42, retired after the 2007-08 season. He played two seasons with the OHL’s North Bay Centennials before making the jump right to the NHL, where he enjoyed a 16-year professional career.

Legwand, 34, is in his first season with the Ottawa Senators – he has seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 45 games. The Plymouth Whalers alum spent two seasons in the OHL before moving right into the NHL, as well, after he became the Nashville Predators’ first-ever draft pick (No. 2 overall in 1998).

He played in 21 games with the Red Wings last season, after they acquired him in a trade from Nashville.
