Livonia native Max Humitz recently came back to Michigan through a trade to the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

Now, he’s making sure he won’t be leaving the state any time soon.

Humitz, acquired by Muskegon in a trade with the Lincoln Stars on Jan. 6, announced today that he has committed to Lake Superior State University.

“I chose Lake Superior State University because it had all the academic aspects I was looking for, and being able to play college hockey in my home state of Michigan has always been a dream on mine since I was little,” said Humitz in a release from Muskegon.  “The school is close to home, and the coaching staff seemed really excited to have me join their hockey program.  I’m excited for what my future holds as an upcoming new member of the Lakers.”

The Honeybaked and Victory Honda alum has two goals and two assists in his first five games with the Lumberjacks.
