The National Hockey League announced their players of the week today, and the Magic Man got some recognition for his outstanding play of late.

Pavel Datsyuk was named the league’s first star of the week, after the Red Wings’ superstar shared the NHL lead with seven points in four games.

The Wings’ No. 13 recorded three multi-point performances, helping Detroit pick up three wins and tie the Tampa Bay Lightning for the most points in the Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference.

Datsyuk, 36, is tied for the team lead with 12 goals on the season, and he’s second on the Wings in points with 22 – despite missing 11 games this season.
