If you’re going down to The Joe this week, help the Red Wings and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve make this holiday season a little more special for children in need.

During Detroit’s Tuesday (vs. Florida) and Thursday (vs. Dallas) home games, fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys (no stuffed animals) to Joe Louis Arena for the team’s annual ‘Toys for Tots’ collection.

Representatives from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will be at each entrance of the Wings’ arena to collect toys, which will then be passed out to needy children throughout Metro Detroit during the holiday season. Monetary donations will also be used to purchase additional toys.

The first 20 fans that make a monetary donation or donate a toy will receive a hockey puck autographed by one of the Wings.

The Wings ask that the toys be suitable for children ages 1 through 12, and that the toys cost no more than $30, so that all the children receive comparable presents this holiday season.
