The two teams that played in the Great Lakes Invitational title game are also the two teams that claimed all the Big Ten weekly awards today.

Michigan’s Steve Racine and Zach Hyman were joined by Michigan State’s Brent Darnell (Canton) on this week’s list of weekly award winners, it was announced today.

Racine, who led Michigan to their 16th GLI title in school history, was named the league’s first star after stopping 71 of the 73 shots he faced in the tournament. The Wolverines’ netminder stopped 40 of 41 in their game against Michigan Tech, then 31 of 32 in their title game with MSU. He was named MVP of the tournament.

Hyman, who was selected to the all-tournament team, scored the game-winning goal for the Wolverines in both of their GLI contests.

Meanwhile, Darnell scored the Spartans’ first goal in their 2-0 win over Ferris State on Sunday, and added an assist in their lone goal in the GLI title game.
