The Big Ten announced their players of the week for this past weekend of hockey action, and Mike Ferrantino grabbed one of the spots.

The Spartans’ captain was named the conference’s third star of the week after he recorded three goals during a pair of weekend road games with New Hampshire.

Ferrantino, a Plymouth native and Compuware alum, scored the game-winner for Michigan State on Friday night, leading MSU to a 4-3 win. It was his second goal of the night.

On Saturday, Ferrantino added a power-play goal in the Spartans’ 5-2 loss.

It’s Ferrantino’s first time being named to the weekly awards list. Goaltender Jake Hildebrand was the last MSU representative in the stars of the week selections; he took the first spot on Nov. 4.

First and second stars of the week went to Minnesota’s Taylor Cammarata and Adam Wilcox, respectively.
