Alex DeBrincat is having quite a start to his OHL career.

The Farmington Hills native was named the league’s rookie of the month for October today, after he racked up 21 points in 10 games during the timeframe.

DeBrincat, who is currently on a 13-game scoring streak (second in the OHL behind only teammate Connor McDavid), played for Victory Honda before attending Lake Forest Academy last season.

He was an undrafted free agent when he committed to the Erie Otters, and he’s been taking advantage of playing with McDavid, the player expected to go No. 1 overall in next summer’s NHL Draft.

DeBrincat, 16, is tied for fourth overall in league scoring, with 28 points in 15 games. He is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.
