The NCAA has announced their yearly report on graduation rates for all collegiate sports, and this time around, hockey leads the way.

NCAA men’s hockey earned the best single-year graduation rate of all D1 men’s sports in the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate date.

Measuring student-athletes who enrolled in 2007, 92.1 percent of all Division 1 men’s hockey players have earned their degree – a 6-point increase from last year and an 8 percentage points higher than the NCAA average of 84 percent.

“Men’s hockey student-athletes continue to produce remarkable achievements in the classroom as well as on the ice,” College Hockey Inc. Executive Director Mike Snee said in a release. “It’s a testament to these young men, their coaches, and the extraordinary institutions that they represent that they are able to achieve their academic goals at the same time that they pursue their on-ice goals.”

Recent graduates listed in the College Hockey, Inc. release include Northern Michigan’s Justin Florek (Boston Bruins) and Michigan State’s Jeff Petry (Edmonton Oilers).
