Gordie Howe suffered a stroke in Texas on Sunday, and according to multiple reports, his health is on the decline.

Mr. Hockey, as he is affectionately referred to by the hockey world, has been staying in Lubbock, Texas, with his daughter Cathy. According to a recent report from the Detroit Free Press, members of the Howe family are heading towards the great No. 9 to be by his side at this time.

The Red Wings released a statement from the Howe family Wednesday afternoon that said:

The Howe family would like to thank friends, family and fans for your overwhelming well-wishes, prayers and support for Gordie. He suffered a significant stroke on Sunday morning while at his daughter’s home in Lubbock, Texas. His condition remains guarded, although he is showing some signs of improvement. We acknowledge that there is a long road to recovery ahead, but Dad’s spirits are good and his competitive attitude remains strong.
