Go open skating where the new Red Wings arena will be

They break ground on the new arena tomorrow, but you can get a headstart on breaking in the ice.

The Red Wings ownership group officially breaks ground on the new arena and entertainment district tomorrow, and they’re hosting a block party and open skating to celebrate.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow, ‘The Detroit District Block Party’ will be taking place at the groundbreaking site on Woodward and Sibley.

Plus, there will be open skating on a synthetic ice rink, with additional chances to skate on it at the following dates and times:
Saturday, Sept. 27 through Sunday, Oct. 5
Weekday Hours: 6-9 p.m.
Weekend Hours: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
