Detroit Catholic Central in the running for USA Today’s best high school athletic program

High school hockey season may be a few months away, but Detroit Catholic Central is already picking up some accolades in the news.

The Shamrocks’ athletics program is one of ten high school programs still remaining in USA Today’sBest Boys Sports Program 2014‘ online voting contest. Detroit Catholic Central currently sits in second place (you can see real-time voting results on the page), with voting ending on Sept. 12.

The short bio given for the Shamrocks:

The Shamrocks have won 55 Division 1 State Championships, including 12 in the last 5 years and a staterecord 6 titles in 2010.  With 15 titles in hockey, 11 each in football and wrestling, 6 in Cross Country, and even a Bowling win, 9 of CC’s 14 teams have claimed State Championships.
