Ada native Adam Janecyk is heading to Massachusetts to start his coaching career.

The former Michigan Wolverines netminder, who played in 18 games for UM from 2010-14, is the new assistant coach at Nichols College.

“We are extremely lucky to have Adam join our staff this season,” said Nichols College head coach Kevin Swallow in a statement. “He had a tremendous playing career and played for one of the greatest hockey college hockey coaches of all time, Red Berenson.”

Janecyk, son of former Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings goaltender Bob Janecyk, will assist primarly with recruiting, defense and goaltending for the Bison – defending Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast division champions.

Janecyk graduated last May with a degree in American Culture from UM’s School of Literature, Science and Arts.
