By @MichaelCaples –

USA Hockey announced today the 20 players who will represent their country at the 2014 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament this August.

Three Michigan natives are on the roster for the U.S. Under-17 Select Team, which will head to Germany to compete in the international tournament from Aug. 13-17. All the players selected were participants in the USA Hockey Boys’ Select 16 Player Development Camp this past week in New York.

The three Michigan natives:

  • Jack Kopacka – Metamora, Mich. – Detroit Compuware U16 (HPHL)
  • James ‘Keenan’ Suthers – Macomb, Mich. – Detroit Compuware U16 (HPHL)
  • Derek Daschke – Troy, Mich. – Oakland Jr. Grizzlies U16 (T1EHL)

Along with the three Michigan natives, two Michigan names will be helping Team USA from behind the bench. Saginaw’s Bob Mancini will be an assistant coach, while Phil Osear (recently named hockey operations director for MSU Hockey) will be their video and goalie coach.
