The Hockey Hall of Fame announced their Class of 2014 members today, and two of them are rather familiar to Michigan’s hockey scene.

Livonia native Mike Modano and former Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek were both named to the list today. They are joined by Rob Blake and former Red Wings foe Peter Forsberg as the four-member Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

The players will officially enter the hall in November.

Modano, the No. 1 overall pick in 1988 by the Minnesota North Stars, is arguably the best American-born player to ever skate in the NHL. His 561 goals and 1374 points are tops for players born in the U.S. The Livonia native, who has routinely said he only hoped for five years in the NHL so he could be set up for retirement, led the hockey boom in Dallas when the North Stars moved south, and along the way, he won a Stanley Cup and a World Championship.

Hasek, who came to Detroit in time to help the Red Wings capture Stanley Cup championships in 2002 and 2008, recorded career 389 wins, a .922 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average. He won six Vezina Trophies as the league’s top goaltender.

Pat Burns (Builders’ category) and Bill McCreary (referee category) will also be part of the 2014 class.
