USA Hockey announced the first 15 players chosen for their 2014 Men’s National Team on April 16, and four Michigan names were on the list.

Commerce native Connor Hellebuyck, Ann Arbor native Jeff Petry and Rochester native Jacob Trouba were the three Michigan natives selected for the squad who will compete in the IIHF Men’s World Championship in May. They were joined by Little Caesars, Saginaw Spirit and Plymouth Whalers alum Vince Trocheck.

Hellebuyck, a UMass-Lowell product, continues to make headlines after another stellar season of college hockey; the former Walled Lake Northern netminder is the only player on the roster whose most recent team is a NCAA school. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound goaltender recently signed with the Winnipeg Jets.

Petry, who played for the U.S. Men’s National Team last year, finished the 2013-14 season with seven goals and 17 points in 80 games. The Orchard Lake St. Mary’s and Michigan State alum just concluded his third full NHL season.

Trouba, meanwhile, just finished his rookie season with the Winnipeg Jets. The Compuware, NTDP and University of Michigan alum recorded 10 goals and 29 total points in 65 games with the Jets this season.
