The Ontario Hockey League announced today that Plymouth Whalers goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic has been named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29.

Nedeljkovic, a native of Parma, Ohio, led the Whalers to a pair of wins last weekend on the road, helping Plymouth to a 4-2 win over Ottawa on Friday, and a 3-2 win over Kingston on Sunday.

The Whalers’ netminder recorded a 1.92 goals-against average and .938 save percentage over the weekend.

Making his performances over the weekend that much more impressive was that on Thursday, Nedeljkovic was in Pittsburgh, competing in the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game.

The 17-year-old goaltender, who played for Belle Tire before joining the OHL ranks, was the only North American goaltender to be listed as a first-round candidate by the NHL Central Scouting in their preliminary watch lists.
