Shaved Ice – March 21

Rough go for the Wings…

The Wings played a rare home game yesterday, only to lose to the Minnesota Wild by a score of 4-2. Here’s our recap from the game, along with a great photo gallery, in case you missed it.

Hockey Canada approved Sean Day’s application for “exceptional player” status – the Compuware Midget Minor defenseman will be able to enroll in the OHL Draft on April 6. Here’s our article on the big news; Day will also be taking part in a teleconference at 3 p.m. to talk about the announcement.

We’re gearing up for the final CCHA Championship – here’s a preview of the Wolverines’ semifinal match-up with the Miami RedHawks.

The Plymouth Whalers start the OHL playofs tomorrow – get ready for their first-round clash with Sarnia right here.

Was talking about this video clip in the press box last night, it’s so cool that I’m sharing it again.

Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek – a Wolverines and NTDP alum – has cleared waivers and been assigned to Toronto’s AHL squad.

TSN says some trade rumors are swirling around San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle.

Former Mr. Hockey winner Ben Johnson, a forward with the Windsor Spitfires, has been accused of sexual assault from two two different incidents. Johnson, a Calumet native, is out on bail currently. We will certainly be keeping an eye on this case.

The NHLPA is going to speak with the players about a possible visor rule that would be grandfathered into the league. Think this is something that needs to be done to protect the players.

Check out our photo gallery from last night’s game – great photos by MiHockey’s newest photographer, Jen Hefner.

More to come.
