Cranbrook’s Alex Alger named MIHL MVP, All-League Teams announced

The Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League announced their postseason awards today, with plenty of honors going to the Alger family.

Cranbrook senior captain Alex Alger was named the league’s most valuable player, after the Livonia native amassed 34 goals and 28 assists for 62 points in 31 games played. Alger, along with his brother Austin, were named to the MIHL All-League team, as well.

Austin Alger, a sophomore, had 22 goals and 30 assists for 52 points in 29 games.

The MIHL All-League team:

  • Goaltender: Matt Fernandez (Port Huron Northern)
  • Defensemen: Andrew Roye (Brother Rice), Jeff Martin (Cranbrook), Jack Stander (Grosse Pointe North)
  • Forwards: Alex Alger (Cranbrook), Austin Alger (Cranbrook), Mike Babcock (Catholic Central), Craig Pefley (U of D Jesuit)
