Shaved Ice – Feb. 20

Heard the Red Cross will be setting up an outpost in Hockeytown.

The Red Wings fell to their division rivals the Predators last night in Nashville, losing 4-3 in overtime. Jimmy Howard had to leave the game early due to ‘blurry vision‘ where he couldn’t see the other end of the ice, Mikael Samuelsson missed because he took an Ian White slapshot to the hand in practice, and Ken Holland’s head might just explode if there’s any more injuries.

We posted the highlights of the game below in the ‘Highlight Reel’ category of Shaved Ice. Highly recommend watching, despite the loss, because Pavel Datsyuk is…simply unreal.

The Star is reporting that the Wings/Leafs Winter Classic is still a go for next year, along with the associated events at Comerica Park. Kind of thought that was already established, but hey, more reports on it saying that it will happen is good to hear.

Today’s Michi-gamer nod goes to former Spartan Tim Kennedy, who scored the game-winner for the Sharks last night.

In case you missed it yesterday, we posted a bunch of youth hockey articles. The Honeybaked one has a recently-retired Red Wing included in it, by the way.

They lost, but let’s face it, you still want to watch the human highlight reel that is Pavel Datsyuk.

Jannik Hansen will have a hearing with the league over his hit on Marian Hossa last night. Feel bad for the former Red Wing – seems like Hossa can’t catch a break. Here’s the video of the hit, you decide if it was dirty or not.

The Blackhawks matched the NHL record for wins to start a season as they prevailed in the shootout, but I doubt there was much celebrating going on.

Is Ottawa captain Daniel Alfredsson on the market? We have a lot of Swedes here in Hockeytown, and the Red Wings could use some help up front with all the injuries they’re fighting through.

Ferris State meets Harlem Shake.

Sending the latest MiHockeyMag to the printers tonight. Pretty pumped.
