Shaved Ice – Dec. 20

Lots of high school hockey photos posted on our site today.

After we sent the latest edition of MiHockeyMag to the printers, we headed down to the Joe for a day of high school hockey. While we’re going to have a very special video coming out soon, we have already posted photo galleries for all three games. Click on the match-up below to see the photos:

Cadillac vs. Big Rapids

Lake Orion vs. Oxford

Eisenhower vs. Country Day

Today’s Michi-gamer nod goes to Luke Glendening. The Grand Rapids native and former captain of the Wolverines played in his first AHL game with the Griffins last night, and he scored his first goal, on his first shot, on his first shift. Not a bad way to start.

Team USA picked up a 3-2 OT win over Sweden today in a World Juniors tune-up contest.

And, in not-as-exciting news, the Red Wings announced today that all NHL games through Jan. 14. That means that just over half of all NHL games have now been canceled.

Here’s the Red Wings TV video of the Cadillac vs. Big Rapids game. The two teams won the DRW contest to have their game covered as if they were playing an NHL game at The Joe.

Finland knocked off Canada 3-2 in a World Juniors tune-up game today. Surprising loss for our neighbors to the north; Canada is expected to only have trouble with the U.S. and Russia.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly still thinks we will see an NHL season this year. Hmmm…I struggle to believe him.

Alex Galchenyuk will stay with Team USA for the duration of the World Juniors, even if the NHL comes back.

We’ve got a contest up and running on both our Twitter and Facebook pages. Here’s one of the graphics…

MiHockey is giving away five Reebok 20K sticks through Christmas Eve. Tweet something good you're doing this holiday season to @MiHockeyNow and use the hashtag #MiNiceList to be entered to win.

See everybody tomorrow.
