Livonia native Riley Barber has been racking up the awards during the start of his collegiate career, and it doesn’t seem like he will be stopping any time soon.

This time, it’s the CCHA’s Gongshow Rookie of the Month award for November – Barber’s second time winning the award in as many months.

In seven games with the Miami RedHawks this November, Barber recorded two goals and seven assists, which was good for the second-most points in the CCHA during that time frame. Barber has 18 points on the season; that total, along with his 1.29 points per game, are best amongst all freshmen in the NCAA.

Barber was a sixth-round pick of the Washington Capitals in 2012.

Players also nominated for the Gongshow Rookie of the Month honor included Lake Superior State defenseman Eric Drapluk, Michigan State goaltender Jake Hildebrand and Western Michigan defenseman Kenney Morrison.

Anders Lee of Notre Dame took home the November edition of the Warrior CCHA Player of the Month award. Special mentions for that honor included Lake Superior senior forward Nick McParland, Miami sophomore forward Austin Czarnik, Michigan State sophomore forward Matt Berry and Northern Michigan sophomore forward Reed Seckel.
