Since there’s open ice at the Joe, why not go down there and skate?

The Red Wings just announced a new open skate program at Joe Louis Arena, with the club offering 12 different skating sessions to fans and players alike as part of their “Hockeytown Thanks” initiative.

Fans must pre-register for the open skating sessions at DetroitRedWings.com/OpenSkate, with spots being filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission – and parking – is free to all participants.

HOCKEYTOWN THANKS OPEN SKATE DATES AND TIMES:

Monday – Wednesday, September 24–26, 11:00 a.m.–Noon; Noon–1:00 p.m.; 7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.; and 8:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m.

A ‘please note’ from the Red Wings’ press release: Complimentary parking will be available at Joe Louis Arena’s Riverfront Lot during all 12 sessions. Fans are asked to bring their own skates and permitted to bring their own food which can be consumed on the JLA concourse. Limited food service will be available at select arena concession stands, including special $1 hot dogs/popcorn/sodas. Arena doors will open thirty (30) minutes prior to each session. Hockey sticks and pucks will not be permitted on the ice surface during any of the skating sessions.
