Bauer’s NEXUS line offers new options for players

Over the course of the summer, MiHockey will be featuring new equipment from the world’s top hockey product manufacturers, both on MiHockeyNow.com and in MiHockeyMag. Here is a look at Bauer’s new NEXUS line, and their thought process behind adding the new product set alongside their VAPOR and SUPREME lines. Features on individual NEXUS products will be published throughout the summer.

With the Vapor and Supreme lines already playing starring roles for one of the leading hockey equipment manufacturers, Bauer was looking to add yet another line to the mix: NEXUS.

The NEXUS line, which just launched on June 15, showcases a variety of equipment that covers many bases – sticks, skates, and protective gear.

“The NEXUS family of product was born from a need Bauer noticed at both the professional and retail level,” said TJ McMeniman, senior global brand manager for Bauer. “We realized not every player could use Vapor or Supreme due to a different need in either fit, performance or flex profile. We decided to take these commonalities and create a family of product that has a new style, feel and fit.

“The addition of NEXUS allows us to reach an entirely new consumer base who historically did not use Bauer because they didn’t fit in our skates, needed a different type of flex in their stick or required an alternative to what we offered in our current protective lines.”

The NEXUS 1000 serves as the top-of-the-line model stick in Bauer’s latest line. This stick will be featured alongside the Supreme Total One and Vapor APX stick for Bauer.

“NEXUS is where authenticity meets technology,” McMeniman said. “This new line of skate offers a wider and deeper fit, allowing the player to have explosive acceleration by getting lower in their ‘take-off’ stance.”

Additionally, Bauer has announced a NEXUS 1000 skate model, as well, that will also share the spotlight with the Supreme and Vapor lines.

“The NEXUS 1000 is ideal for the player who is looking for a very quick, natural-feeling release on wrist and snap shots in a stick that gives you effortless control,” McMeniman said.

Players can also outfit themselves in the new line of NEXUS protective equipment – Bauer is offering a NEXUS 1000 line in shoulder pads, shin pads, and elbow pads.

No NEXUS gloves have been announced just yet.

And in keeping with Bauer’s traditional approach to equipment lines, the NEXUS brand offers each product at the 1000 level, the 800 level, the 600 level, and the 400 level, allowing them to cater to players with different price-points in mind.
